Transciption: | GEORGE HUDSON ANDREWS THE LATE Mr. G. H. ANDREWS— The funeral took place on Saturday afternoon of Mr. George Hudson Andrews, of The Haven, St. Mary's Hill, the first part of the service being conducted at St. John's Church, by the Rev. W. Magrath, and the interment at the Cemetery. The mourners were Mrs Andrews (the widow), four sons and one daughter, and Mr. Wood, brother-in-law. Amongst those present were Mr E. Parfitt and Mr. P. Cronk (?), representing the South Berks Brewery Company. Mr. E. B. Black-Hawkins being unable to be present through illness. but a sent a wreath; also Messrs. J.E. Pratt and W. Burton, representing the office staff ; Messrs. R Long, W. Church, E. Cox, R. Harrison, Frank Cosburn, Mrs. Hallett. and others. The deceased, who was a native of Egham, was 63 years of age. and came to Newbury twenty years ago, as chief clerk to Messrs Hawkins and Co , of the West Mills Brewery. When the South Berks Company was formed, Mr. Andrews was appointed to the post of secretary, which he filled with great credit to himself and satisfaction to all with whom he had business relations. He was a man of genial manners, and had a pleasant smile for everyone. Mr Andrews had held situations in Ramsgate, Windsor, Staines, Plymouth, and other places. He had latterly suffered greatly from an internal complaint, and underwent an operation some time ago, which only served to prolong his life for a year or so.
