THOMAS LACEY

THE LATE MR. THOMAS LACEY —

The sudden death of Mr. Thomas Lacey, of Russell-road, Newbury, occurred on the morning of Monday, the 15th inst. Deceased was at the time assisting his son, who is driver of the Corporation steam roller, which at that time was working on the roads at Woolhampton. The engine was standing in the yard of Mr. Brown, and deceased had lit the fire and was getting up the steam and when his son came into the yard he found his father dead, though evidently he had not long passed away.

As deceased was at the time of his decease under medical treatment no inquest was necessary, the doctor being able to certify that the fatality was due to heart trouble.

Mr. Lacey resided with his son. He was a native of Lincolnshire and came to Newbury to act as foreman maltster to Messrs. R. and W. Skinner, and enjoyed the confidence of his employers.

The funeral took place on Thursday at the cemetery.
