Transciption: | CHARLES BENHAM ROGERS DEATH OF MR C. B. ROGERS. Death of Mr. C. B. Rogers. The death occurred on Tuesday morning of Mr. Charles Benham Rogers at the age of 65. The announcement will come as a great shock to his many friends, for during his long residence in the town, his courtesy and genial disposition earned him the esteem of everyone with whom he came into contact. He was a native of Newnham, in Hampshire, and came to Newbury as a young man to start in business as a baker, at 19 Cheap-street. He owned the business for forty years until a year last June, when he retired for a well-earned rest. He took a house at Bucklebury Slade, where he interested himself in tending his garden and fowls. In his usual health last week, he was suddenly taken ill on Monday morning, and was taken to Reading Hospital, where he died following an operation for an internal complaint. Deceased leaves a widow, two daughters and two sons, the youngest of whom is employed in Singapore. The funeral takes place next Saturday at Newtown-road Cemetery at 2.30pm.
