THE LATE MRS JOHN GRAY The remains of the late Mrs. John Gray were, on Saturday, brought from Peckham to Newbury for interment. The deceased lady, who died on the `15th inst. came of the famiy of the Palmers, long connected with the parish of East Garston, and it is to the munificence of her son, Mr. James Gray, that the church there owes its beautiful windows, and other works of restorations. The first part of the burial service was conducted in the parish church by the Rector, the Rev. E.J. Gardiner, and the cortege was then reformed and proceeded to the cemetery, where the remaining portion of the service was concluded.... The mourners were Mr. James Gray, Mr. James Palmer, Letcombe Regis, Mr. William Palmer, Lambourn, Mr. John Waldron, Moulsford, Mr. James Palmer, Castle House, Speen, and Mr. H. Burke-Godwin, Newbury.
