Beatrice Jessie Salter (1884 – 1884)
Jesse Salter was born in 1858 in Kintbury. He married Elizabeth Shingleton in 1882 in Newbury district. Elizabeth was born in 1859 in Moulsford, Berkshire.
Jesse and Elizabeth had 12 children but only six were still living by the time of the 1911 census. Their first child Sidney John was born in Newbury in 1883.
The second child Beatrice Jessie was born on 4 March 1884 at Bartholomew Street in Newbury. An announcement appeared in the Newbury Weekly News dated 13 March 1884 as below.
SALTER – March 4, at Bartholomew Street, Newbury, the wife of Jesse Salter, of a daughter.
Sadly, Beatrice died on 28 April 1884 at Chestnut Court in Newbury. She was buried in Newtown Road Cemetery on 2 May. An announcement appeared in the Newbury Weekly News dated 1 May 1884 as below.
SALTER – Apr 28, at Chestnut Court, Newbury, Beatrice Jessie, infant child of Jesse and E. Salter, aged 7 weeks.
Jesse and Elizabeth moved around after the death of Beatrice. In the 1891 census they were living in East Woodhay, in 1901 in Earley near Reading, in 1911 in Clewer Green near Windsor and then in 1921 in Chertsey, Surrey.
Jesse died in March 1930 in Weybridge hospital and was buried on 11 March 1930 at St Peter in Chertsey. Elizabeth died in 1937 in NW Surrey, which includes Chertsey.
