Frederick Owen
c1882-1884
Frederick was born in Newbury, Berkshire the son of Tom/Thomas and Susannah Owen (nee Deacon) who were married in 1876 (marriage registered in Wokingham).
Frederick died aged 2 on the 27th April 1884, he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 2nd May.
Frederick’s family:
His father Thomas was born in Hanney, Berkshire. His birth was registered as Tom Owen in the September quarter 1852, in Wantage. He was the son of Thomas and Ann Owen (nee Hunt) who were married on the 19th April 1840 in Lambourn, Berkshire.
His mother Susanna(h) was baptised in 1849 in Chieveley, Berkshire, the daughter of John and Priscilla Deacon (nee Goodchild) who were married in 1847 in Chieveley.
Frederick’s siblings were:
John Thomas born 19th August, baptised 17th September 1876 in Whitchurch
Albert James born 23rd January 1878 in Crookham, baptised 3rd March 1878 in Thatcham, Berkshire
Richard born 1880 in Long Lane, Berkshire.
Minnie Ada born c1884 in Newbury
Bessie born 17th February 1888 in Newbury
Lizzie born c1891 (died soon after birth, buried in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 28th March)
Frederick’s father was recorded as a Groom in 1871 and 1891, a Draper’s Porter in 1881, a Stableman/Groom in 1901 and an unemployed Agricultural Labourer in 1911.
The family were living in Speenhamland in 1881, 17, Waterloo Place, Newbury in 1891, 3, Prospect Place, Newbury in 1901 and 1, Gordon Villas, Gordon Road, Newbury in 1911.
Thomas died aged 59 in 1912, he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 16th January (abode at time of death, 1 Gordon Villa's, Kings Road, Newbury)
Susannah died aged 88 in 1939, in Newbury.
