Mary Ann Wright c1825-1883
Charles Wright c1827 1895
Mary Ann was baptised on the 3rd June 1827 in Speen Berkshire, the daughter of James and Mary Anne Haines (nee Everett) who were married in Speen in 1820.
Her father James was a Weaver, he was born c1798. He died aged 44 in 1842 and was buried on the 6th February at St Mary the Virgin Speen.
Mary Ann’s mother was baptised in Reading in 1798, the daughter of William and Sophia Everett.
James and Mary Anne also had the following children:
Elizabeth c1827 baptised in Speen
George c1830 baptised in Speen
Eliza c1833 born in Reading
In 1841 Mary Ann (18) was recorded living in London Road, Speen with her father James (40), her mother Mary (40), her sisters Elizabeth (13), Eliza (8) and her brother George (11).
Mary married Charles Wright on the 17th October 1850 at St Mary’s Church Speenhamland. They had a daughter, Eliza born c1856.
The 1851 census records Mary Ann (25) (recorded as Marianne) and Charles (23) living in Kennet Place, Newbury.
The family were recorded living in Dredge’s Yard, Newbury in 1861, Rose & Thistle Yard, Newbury in 1871 and Pembroke Road, Newbury in 1881.
Mary Ann died on the 9th May 1883 (aged at death recorded as 58), she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 12th May.
In 1891 Charles (64) was lodging at 17 Cheap Street Newbury. He died aged 69 in the Newbury Workhouse on the 3rd December 1895 and was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 7th December.
