The articles below contain information about Henry Frampton.
HENRY FRAMPTON (senior) born 1835: d. 1881
Henry Frampton snr. was born into a farming family in Newington, Oxfordshire in 1835. In 1851 he was still living with the family at Ewe Farm in the village of Berwick Prior, Newington. However by 1861 he is married to Madeline and they have moved to Watership Farm, Sydmonton, near Newbury, where Henry is farming a considerable acreage of land and has several employees.
Henry Ferdinand Frampton was born to Henry and Madeline in 1862 and in 1871 the family are still at Watership Farm, where Henry jnr is the eldest of 5 children including 4 sons and a daughter.
Henry snr would appear to be heavily involved in country life and in the Newbury area – he is mentioned quite frequently in connection with various farming related groups, including Hon.Secretary of the Newbury Wool Fair 1875. He also seems to be a not inconsiderable cricketer and appears as a member of Highclere Park Cricket Club over a period of time.
1881 finds Henry snr living with Madeline with relatives in Weston-super-Mare, while the rest of the family (except for Henry Ferdinand who is away at school) are living at Warren Lodge, Wash Common, Newbury. Sadly, later that year, Henry snr. passed away in Axbridge, Somerset – cause of death is given as phthisis pulmonalis. His burial takes place back in Newbury at Newtown Road Cemetery in September 1881.
HENRY FERDINAND FRAMPTON born 1862: d.1876 the eldest son of the family sadly died in February 1876 (aged 14 years) at Surrey County School where he was a student. Cause of death is given as Measles – congestive inflammation of lungs. He was also buried at Newtown Road Cemetery in 1876.
MADELINE FRAMPTON b 1836: d 1907 wife of Henry snr. and mother of Henry jnr. was living with relatives at Drayton, Oxfordshire and passed away in 1908. She was also buried at Newtown Road Cemetery in November 1908.
