Recorder's Notes Alice was a dressmaker. Her mother, Elizabeth nee Wills was born in Banbury, Oxon, to Thomas Wills, carpenter, & married Alice's father William Lane. After he died prior to the 1841 census, she married Henry J.L. Matthews in St Botolph, Aldgate & came with her 6 children to Newbury. They lived in Bartholomew St where Henry was a Master Hairdresser, assisted by members of the family. Source: ancestry records.
