Henry Abel
c1799-1881
Henry was born at sea, he married Sarah Harris and they had a daughter Matilda born in 1838 in Newbury.
In 1841 the family were living in The City Newbury and Henry was working as a Labourer. By 1851 they had moved to Bone Mill Enborne Berkshire and Henry was working as a Bone Mill Labourer. The 1861 census records Henry & Sarah living in Hereford Place in the parish of St John the Evangelist Newbury, Henry was recorded working as a Tallow Chandler. In the 1871 census they were recorded living in the parish of St Nicolas (Union Chapel Yard) Newbury, Henry was recorded as a General Labourer.
Henry died aged 82 on the 29th January 1881 and was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 1st February.
His widow Sarah died aged 78 on the 27th January 1887 and was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 31st January.
