James Lancaster
He was born c. 1815 in Devonport, Devon. He married Elizabeth Hudson on 4 December 1864 at St. Mary, Reading. She was born c. 1833 in Uppingham, Rutland.
He is recorded in Kelly’s Directory 1869 as a Wholesale Hardware Dealer at 146 & 147 Bartholomew Street; also in Harrod’s Directory 1876 as a Photographer, Fancy Repository, Bartholomew Street. In the Reading Mercury of 19 November 1870 it is reported that he is a Constable for the Newbury Court of Leet.
He died on 9 May 1880, aged 65 years, late of Bartholomew Street. Probate was granted to his widow Elizabeth Lancaster and he was buried on 12 May 1880.
