Dora Jessie/Jessie Dora Young
1891-1925
Dora Jessy Brazier was born in Newbury the daughter of Thomas and Annie Laurie Williams Brazier (nee Titchiner) who were married in 1880 (marriage registered in Newbury).
Dora’s mother Annie was born on the 10th March 1859 in Chieveley the daughter of Charles and Ann Titchiner (nee Brazier) who were married in 1856 (marriage registered in Newbury). She died aged 89 in 1948 and was buried in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 28th June.
Her father Thomas was a Plasterer, he was born on the 1st May 1859 in Newbury, the son of Thomas and Louisa Brazier (nee Hyland) who were married in 1839 (marriage registered in Newbury). He died aged 81 in 1940 and was buried in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 21st December.

In 1881 and 1891 the family were living in Albany Place, Newtown Road, Newbury. By 1901 they had moved to 4 Bedford Place, Newbury. By 1911 they were living at The Ferns, 2 Arthur Road, Newbury. In the census for that year Dora was recorded as Jessie, aged 19, working as a Dressmaker.
In 1913 Dora J Brazier married Robert J Thompson (marriage registered in Eastbourne Sussex in the December quarter)
Robert died aged 30 three years later (death registered in the March quarter 1916 in Eastbourne).
The 1921 census records Dora as Jessie Thompson, she was recorded living with her parents (surname mistakenly recorded as Mazier) and her brother Harold (Wilfred Harold) in Newbury.
Dora remarried in 1924, her 2nd husband was John Richard Young (marriage registered in the December quarter in Reading Berkshire)
Dora gave birth to a son John Richard Young on the 22nd October 1925 in Bury St Edmunds. She died aged 34 a few days later, at the General Hospital in Bury St Edmunds (possibly due to complications giving birth).
Dora’s death was registered as Jessie Dora Young, she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 2nd November (as Jessie Dora Young).
In 1939 Dora’s son John (14) was recorded living with his grandparents, Thomas (80) and Annie Brazier (80) at 2 Arthur Road, Newbury.
He married in 1950 and died in 1987 (both registered in Reading)
