Emma Bolton was m to Joseph Bolton and was born in wesborough, Sussex. It is thought she met and m Joseph when they lived in North Heath, Chieveley. A move to the post office at Peasemore followed and then ~1870/1880 they moved to Willow Cottages, Andover Road, Newbury. Emma was a severe looking woman, she always had her hair pulled tightly back in a bun and in all photos is seen in dark clothes. She had 7 children. One her son Jessie lived opposite St. John's Church in the terrace of cottages there. He built some of the large houses in the Wash Common area. He also lived inGloucester Road from where the gd mother of the author, Alison Price, was married
