Mary Ann Edwards
She was born on 17 March 1832 in Newbury to George Smith, a Boat Builder at Webb’s Yard, and Ann Farr born in Whitchurch, Hampshire. She was baptised on 15 April 1832 at the Wesleyan Chapel, Northbrook Street, Newbury. In 1851, aged 19, she is in domestic service at George Farr’s house in St. Mary’s Hill. He is her cousin, aged 55, born in Whitchurch, Hampshire: his occupation is Stationer. On 29 September 1855 she married William Edwards (1827-1907) in Alverstoke, Hampshire. They had 9 children. In the 1861 and 1871 Census she is recorded as a Draper and Milliner. She died on 3 March 1878 aged 48 and she was buried on 6th March 1878.
