Elizabeth Wristbridge
1805-1877
Elizabeth Granger was born on the 5th April 1805 in Newbury she was baptised on the 7th May 1805 at the Lower Meeting House Independent Newbury and was the daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth Granger (nee Elliot) who were married on the 31st January 1792 at St Nicolas Church Newbury. Samuel was a Cooper.

The 1815 census of Newbury records Samuel (49), as a Cooper, living at Armstrong’s Yard on the west side of Cheap Street, Newbury with Elizabeth (44), Thomas (21), Prudence (17), Mary (14), Elizabeth (9), Harriet (7) and Christina (an infant).
In 1841 her parents were living in an Almshouse in the parish of St Nicolas, Newbury.
Elizabeth’s father died aged 80 in 1847, her mother died aged 79 in 1851.
In 1841 Elizabeth was working as a servant and was living with her brother Thomas and his family in Northbrook Street Newbury.
The 1851 census records her as a Dressmaker, living at Kings Arms Yard Newbury.
In 1861 Elizabeth was visiting her sister Christiana Hibbard and her family at Hatch House Farm West Woodhay.
Elizabeth married John Wristbridge in Newbury in 1863. John was a Tea Dealer and was a widower when he married Elizabeth, his previous wife Fanny having died the year before. John and Elizabeth lived at 18 Smith’s Crescent Shaw Road Newbury.
John died aged 70 on the 21st February 1872 and was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 26th February.
Elizabeth died aged 71 on the 1st January 1877 and was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 8th January.
