William Dance
c1801-1875
William was baptised on the 22nd January 1802 at St Mary, Kintbury, Berkshire, the son of John and Elizabeth Dance (nee Smith) who were married on the 1st July 1801 at St Mary, Kintbury.
He married Eliza Shaw on the 1st March 1824 at St Mary, Speen, Berkshire.
William and Eliza had the following children:

William c1837 (died aged 6 months, buried 13th March 1838 at St Mary the Virgin Speen)

Elizabeth c1844
William c1846
The 1841 census records William (35) as an Agricultural Labourer living in Marsh Benham, Berkshire, with Eliza (35) and their children George (13), Charlotte (5), Charles (5), John (5) and Eliza (2).
In 1851 William (47) was recorded as a Baker, living in Speen, Berkshire with Eliza (47) and their children, Charlotte (20), John (15), Eliza (11), Henry (9), Elizabeth (7), William (5) and their grandson Henry (3).
William was widowed in 1855, Eliza died aged 51, she was laid to rest on the 7th March at St Mary the Virgin, Speen.
William remarried later that year, his 2nd wife was a widow, Elizabeth Ilsley (nee Staniford). (Elizabeth was born c1808 in Sulham Berkshire, she married John Ilsley on the 27th May 1834 in Brimpton, Berkshire).
The 1861 census records William (57), his wife Elizabeth (52), his daughter Elizabeth (17), his stepson Richard Ilsley (19), his son William (15) and his grandson (Henry (13) living in Wash Common, Newbury. William was recorded as a Farmer of 27 acres.
In 1871 William (67) was working as a Brickmaker, he was living at Brick Kiln, Shaw cum Donnington, Berkshire with Elizabeth (62).
Elizabeth died aged 65, she was laid to rest on the on the 2nd January 1874 at St Mary the Virgin Speen.
William died aged 74 0n 14 oct. 1875 in the Newbury Workhouse, he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 18th October.
