William Crook
1875-1875
William was born in Newbury, Berkshire, the son of William and Susanna Crook (nee Wheeler) who were married on the 5th August 1872, at Greyfriars Church, Reading, Berkshire.
William died in Speenhamland, soon after birth (birth and death both registered in the March quarter 1875). He was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 17th March 1875.
William’s family:
His father William was a Coach Builder. He was born c1843 in Fairford Gloucester He was baptised on the 23rd February 1843, in Fairford, the son of Noah and Phoebe Crook (nee Hatt) who were married on the 17th July 1839, in Liddington, Wiltshire. The 1881 census records William (38) as a boarder, living at 8 Cardington Street, St Pancras, London. He died aged 40 in 1883, in St Pancras, London.
His mother Susanna was born c1844, in Corsham, Wiltshire. She was baptised on the 28th June 1846, in Corsham, the daughter of John and Elizabeth Wheeler (nee Barnes) who were married on the 6th March 1828, in Chippenham, Wiltshire. (John was from the parish of Corsham). Susanna died aged 30 (possibly due to complications giving birth to William. (Not proved)). She was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery with baby William, on the 17th March 1875.
His sister Mary Ann, was born c1873 in Newbury. In 1891 Mary (18) was living at 22 Waterford Road, Fulham (The Pelican) with her widowed aunt, Helen Crook (50), a Licensed Victualler, (widow of Edward) her uncle, John Crook (47), a Licensed Victualler, a barman, two barmaids, a visitor and a general servant. Mary married Walter Herbert Wallace on the 17th August 1901, at All Saints, Fulham. In 1911 they were living at 128, Wellmeadow Road, Catford, Lewisham. They had a daughter, Jeannette Mary born in 1913, in Lewisham. The 1921 census records the family living in Watford, Hertfordshire. The 1939 census records the family living at 4 Silverdale Road, Cheshunt, Hertfordshire. (possible death for Mary, 1956 in Watford, not proved)
