Emma Watson (1859-1875)
Emma was born in Basingstoke in 1859, the daughter of Jeremiah Frederick Watson (1828-1910), a Millwright from Sheerness, Kent and Helen (Ellen) Mills (1830-1918).
Jeremiah was the son of William and Elizabeth and was baptised at the Minster in Sheppey, Kent on 27th July, 1828. Helen, the daughter of John and Ann Mills was baptised on 10th December, 1830 in Andover.
Emma’s parents, Helen and Jeremiah married in Basingstoke St Michael on 7th July, 1853. They had more children, their sons becoming Millwrights, a Policeman and Grocers. The family lived for many years in Wote Street, Basingstoke.
Emma died in Northbrook Street, Newbury from Scarlet fever and congestion of lungs. Her mother was present.
(Her parents are buried in South View Cemetery, Basingstoke, Hampshire).
