Inscription reads: Sacred to the Memory of William Garlick who died on the 5th of Jan. 1875 in the 53rd year of his age. “Thanks be to God which giveth us the Victory through our Lord Jesus Christ"
In the 1861 Census he is living with the Higgs Family in Cheap Street, Newbury (the head of the family, Thomas, is his brother-in-law).
In the 1871 Census he is living in 6 West Street, Newbury with his nephew, Walter Higgs.
His occupation was given as Drapers Assistant.
(This gentleman may be an uncle of Thomas Hibel Garlick.)
