Rosina Girdler
1873-1874
Rosina was born in 1873 her birth registration records her name as Rose Emma she was baptised as Rosina on the 13th March 1873 at St Nicolas Church Newbury the daughter of Charles (a Drayman) and Sarah Girdler (nee Piper).
Her parents were married on the 4th April 1869 at St Nicolas Church Newbury. Her father was a widower with a daughter Mary Ann aged 5, when he married her mother. (1st wife Charlotte Curtis, married 1861, widowed 1867)
Charles and Sarah also had the following children:

Alice born 1879
Kate born 1880
John born 1882
Edith born 1884
James born 1886 (died aged 3 in 1889 buried in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 3rd June)
William born 1887
Edward born 1889
Rosina’s father was recorded as a Paper Mill Labourer in 1861, a Brewer’s Labourer in 1871 and a Labourer in 1881.
The 1871 census records the family living in Borough Court, Newbury. In 1881 they were recorded living in Lisle Court, Newbury.
Rosina died aged 17 months in 1874 she was buried in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 20th July.
Rosina’s father died aged 50 in 1890 he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 12th July.
In 1891 her mother and siblings were living in Falkland Place, Cheap Street, Newbury, her mother was working as a Charwoman.
Sarah remarried in 1894 her 2nd husband was Joseph Hunt, a widower. By 1901 they were living in Reading (618 Oxford Road). By 1911 they were living at 53 Cranbury Road Reading.
