Eliza Ann Adams
1861-1874
Eliza’s mother Hannah was baptised on the 3rd January 1836, in Thatcham, the daughter of James and Frances Adams (nee Hide) who were married 26th May 1833, in Thatcham.
In 1841 Hannah (5) (recorded as Harriet, on ancestry) was living in Awberry Street, Thatcham, with her father James (45), a Sawyer, her mother Frances (40) and her brother George (7).
Hannah’s mother Frances, died aged 40 in 1841. She was buried on the 10th December, at St Mary, Thatcham.
Her father James died aged 52 in 1845. He was buried on the 16th June, at St Mary, Thatcham.
In 1851 Hannah (16), a Servant, was recorded as an inmate in the Newbury Workhouse.
The 1861 census records Hannah (26) as a Servant, at the Hind’s Head Inn, (recorded as Hines Head Inn on ancestry) Aldermaston, Berkshire. (Innkeeper, James Wakelin (43)). Hannah gave birth to Eliza Ann in Thatcham, later that year.
Eliza was baptised as Eliza Hannah on the 10th August 1862, in Thatcham. Her mother was recorded as Anna on the baptism record.
No further confirmed records found for Hannah/Anna Adams.
The 1871 census records Eliza Ann (8) as an inmate in the Newbury Workhouse.
She died (age at death recorded as 10) in the Newbury Workhouse on the 27th April 1874 and was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 30th April.
