Joseph Aldridge died 1873 aged 73

Obituary in NWN spelled his name Alderidge and lived in Kings Arms yard

FMP - Was married to Sarah nee Bowles.

 In 1841census was living in Hatchet Yard Newbury with wife Sarah and daughter Eliza aged 2

Berks marriage Index states Joseph’s father was a Blacksmith

He was probably illiterate as marriage certificate was signed X

His birthplace was Wiltshire

FMP – 1851 Census Joseph and Sarah are living in Back Lane Newbury and have 4 daughters and a son

Sarah’s mother Judith Bowles is living with them recorded as a lodger and retired Publican. 

FMP- 1871 census – Still at hatchet Yard living with wife Sarah aged 54 and daughters Eliza 31, Martha 22, and granddaughter Agness M aged 1
