Thomas Harris
c1792-1870
Thomas was a Gardener. He was baptised in 1792 in Brightwalton Berkshire, the son of Thomas and Amy Harris (nee Head) who were married in Peasmore, Berkshire in 1776.
Thomas and Amy also had the following children:
Hannah baptised in 1777 in Peasmore
Elizabeth baptised in 1782 in Brightwalton
Mary Ann baptised in 1785 in Brightwalton
Thomas married a lady named Elizabeth (no married confirmed)
The 1841 census records Thomas (45) living with his wife Elizabeth (55), in Speen, Berkshire.
In 1851 Thomas (59) and Elizabeth (68, born in Middlesex) were recorded living in Hazell’s Court, Speen.
Elizabeth died aged 74 in 1854, she was buried on the 12th July at St Mary the Virgin Speen.
In 1861 Thomas was still living in Speen (Hazell’s Yard).
In 1866 he married Rebecca Wilton (nee Sims, widow of John Joseph Wilton).
Thomas died aged 78 on the 4th October 1870, he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 6th October.
In 1871 Rebecca (65) was recorded living on Parish Relief in Dredge’s Yard, Newbury.
She moved to Maidenhead (possibly to live with her married daughter Elizabeth Crosswell (nee Wilton) and her family) and died aged 77 in 1881, she was buried on the 3rd March at St Luke Maidenhead.
