FBMD records his death as 1870

FMP 1841 Census shows William aged 14  living in City, Newbury  with his family. (Father Robert born 1796, Mother Ann born 1801, Alfred 15, Charlotte 10, James 7, Sarah 4)

FMP 1851 Census No sign of William( or any variation of William) living in the Newbury area. But a William Aldridge aged 23 born in 1828 was living with the Hobbs family in High Street Bray Cookham Berks. The Household consisted of Henry Head of the family an Innkeeper and butcher – eleven people in the household including a travelling Professor of writing, four lodgers and William now aged 23 who is described as a servant (an Ostler)

FMP Census 1861 finds William back in Newbury at Old Road – not married and living with James Aldridge a licenced hawker (his younger brother) and wife Jemima and children. He is described as the lodger.

Five years later James dies (aged 34) seems that Jemima wasn’t able to continue to provide a home for William and at some point he must have had to go into the workhouse. He dies in 1870 aged 46.
