RICHARD REEVES
Richard Reeves was born in 1805 at Kirby Moorside, York. He states in censuses that he was a druggist, probably successfully as when he retired he states that he is a Fund holder. When he left Yorkshire is unknown so far.
He married Sarah Light at Southampton in June Q 1840.
She was born in West Grimstead, Wilts., daughter of Thomas and Martha.
They had five children, the three eldest are stated in the 1851 and 1861 census to have been born in Kirby Moorside, Yorks. The two youngest were born in 1846 and 1848 at Speen and the family are living at London Road, Speen. Children: Sarah Elizabeth born 1840 John William born 1842 Richard Farmer born 1844 Robert Leigh 1846 Henry born 1848
In the 1851 census Richard states that he is a retired Druggist now a Fundholder (living on a personal pension).
Sarah died in Mar Q 1860. (1860 burial records not complete). In the 1861 census Richard states that he is a Road Surveyor. Richard died 1870 aged 65 and was buried 18 May 1870.
The history of Chemists and Druggists is complicated and to follow his career farther would be a big project.
