MARY WALKER
Mary was born on 30 March 1828 & baptised on 30 June 1828 at the Lower Meeting House (Independent), Newbury.
Her parents were Joseph (Ref: 9205) & Sarah (Ref; 9487) Walker.
In 1841, Mary, 13, in Old Newtown Road, Newbury with her parents Joseph, 55 & a Woollen Weaver, & Sarah, 50.
In 1851 the family are in Northcroft Lane, Newbury. Mary is 23 & a servant. Joseph, 65, is described as an ‘Almshouse – weaver’. Sarah is 64. There is also Mary, aged 6, who is the daughter of Mary.
In 1861Mary, 33, is visiting the Simmons family in Reading. This is her sister Esther, 38, & husband John, 33 & an Agricultural Labourer. They have a 16-month-old daughter, Sarah.
Mary dies in Jack Yard, Newbury on 3 October 1869, aged 41. Q4 1869 Newbury 2c 153 & buried at NRC on 8 October 1869.
Martha Pearce was present at Mary’s death. A month before Martha had been present at Mary’s sister, Sarah Walker’s (Ref: 2639), death, also in Jack Yard. They appear to have been living together in Jack Yard, Newbury. Neither of them married.
