John Wright
1822-1869
John was baptised on the 15th December 1822 at St Nicolas Church Newbury, the son of Richard and Elizabeth Wright (nee Triggs) who were married on the 25th May 1817 at St Nicolas Church Newbury.
John’s father Richard was baptised on the 25th February 1787 at St Nicolas Church Newbury the son of John and Sarah Wright (nee Brunsdon) who were married on the 13th November 1780 at St Nicolas Church Newbury. He worked as a Tanner and a Coal Merchant’s Labourer. He died aged 63 in 1850 and was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 2nd August.
His mother Elizabeth was baptised on the 13th May 1791 at St Nicolas Newbury the daughter of Richard and Jane Triggs (nee Kember) who were married on the 28th May 1787 at St Nicolas Newbury. She died aged 77 in 1867 and was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 15th February.
John’s siblings were:

Jane baptised 3rd September 1820

Charles baptised 25th November 1827
Sarah baptised 14th February 1830
Elizabeth baptised 12th May 1833 (died aged 5 months, buried 24th September at St Nicolas Newbury)
Eliza baptised 21st September 1834 (died aged 1, buried 21st August 1835 at St Nicolas Newbury)
John married Livinia Challis in 1848 in Newbury. (Livinia was baptised in Newbury in 1827, the daughter of Frederick and Martha Challis (nee Walter) who were married on the 11th November 1821 in Speen).
John and Livinia had the following children:
Twins: Jane and Richard John 1849 (Richard died aged 9 weeks, buried 6th June 1849 at St Nicolas Newbury)

Female c1855 (died without being given a name soon after birth)
Annie Maria 1856 (died aged 3, buried in the Newtown Road Cemetery Newbury on the 24th April 1860 )

Annie Livinia 1862
Frederick John 1864
Joseph Cornelius 1867
In 1861 John (37) was recorded as a Bargeman living in West Mills Newbury with his wife Livinia (31) a Shoe Binder and their children Richard (10) and Elizabeth (2).
John died aged 46 in 1869, he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 2nd October.
Livinia remarried in Newbury in 1874, her 2nd husband was Henry Waite.
Both the 1881 and 1891 census records record Livinia as a Laundress, living in Mayor’s Lane Newbury. In 1881 her children Annie Wright (18) a Housemaid, Joseph Wright (14), a Bricklayer’s Labourer and her granddaughter Alice Wright (3) (illegitimate daughter of her daughter Elizabeth) were recorded living with her. In 1891 she was recorded living alone.
Livinia died aged 66 in 1896, she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 7th February.
