MELANCHOLY CASE OF SUDDEN DEATH
An inquest was held last evening before Joseph Bunny, Esq., M.D., coroner for the borough, touching the death of Mr. Edwin Rowden, of Newbury, who had died on the previous evening under circumstances of a very sudden and distressing nature.
It appeared that the deceased had just had tea, and was going to the Penny Readings at the Town Hall, when the exposure in the cold evening air brought on a fit of coughing, in the course of which he ruptured a blood vessel, and expired almost immediately. Dr. Palmer was quickly in attendance but to no avail.
The deceased occupied the position of foreman in the printing office of Messrs. Blacket and Son, and had been at work till within a short time previous to his death, and seemed to be quite in his usual health and spirits. He enjoyed the high esteem and confidence of his employers, and was particularly sober and regular in his habits.
After hearing the evidence at the inquest, a verdict of death from natural causes was returned.
