ALFRED JACKSON SUDDEN DEATH

The death occurred yesterday (Wednesday) evening with painful suddenness of Mr. Alfred Jackson, of Gloucester-road.


He was one of the foremen at Plenty's Engineering Works, and had been to work during the morning and returned to dinner. He had a seizure, and was conveyed to bed, where attention was given by Dr. Hickman, but death followed. The deceased was a good type of skilled mechanic, taking keen interest in his work, and enjoyed the respect of his fellows.


His wife died several years ago.

FORTY YEARS WITH ONE FIRM


The funeral of the late Mr. Alfred Jackson, of Gloucester-road, took place on Monday, the first part of the service being conducted at the Parish Church by the Rev. G.S. Deacon, and the interment at the Newtown-road Cemetery.


The mourners were Messrs. Alfred and William Jackson (sons), Misses M. and B. Jackson, Mrs. Mould (daughters), Mr. Mould (son-in-law), Mrs. Alfred Jackson, Mrs. William Jackson (daughter-in-law), Mr. Will Jackson (brother), Mrs. Upton, Mrs. Jarrod, Mrs.Taylor (sisters), Mr. Gibbons (brother-in-law), Mrs. Smallbones and Mrs. A. Arnold (nieces).
 Wreaths included one from Mr. and Mrs. Pellew Plenty, in remembrance of 40 years' work together; Fellow Workmen at Eagle Ironworks; from his unemployed Comrades and Staff of the Labour Exchange.


The deceased, who was a native of Abbotts Ann, near Andover, and spent some of his earlier years in Canada.

He had been employed at the Eagle Ironworks for over forty years, and enjoyed the respect of the firm. His wife died nearly two years ago, and he leaves a grown-III, family of sons and daughters.
