Stephen Richard Parr
He was born in 1851 in Newbury, the second son of Thomas and Eliza Parr. His father was a Carpenter and Wheelwright and the family were living in Newbury Wharf. By 1861 the family had moved to Pelican Yard, Speen. In 1871 his father held the licence of "The Cricketers", Thatcham, and Stephen Richard was following his father's occupation to become a carpenter and wheelwright. On 25 December 1876, now aged 25, he married Emma Sarah Pocock in Thatcham. By 1881 they were living in Crookham and in 1882 the licence of "The Cricketers" was transferred to his name.
In 1891 they were living at Westcombe Villa, Crookham, together with his father Thomas, now aged 79 years. Their occupations are recorded as Builders. Then on 17 July 1898 his wife Emma Sarah died suddenly aged 60 years. A year later he married Ellen Weston and they ran the greengrocer and fruiterers at 109 Bartholomew Street. He died on 26 June 1920 aged 69 years and probate was granted to Henry Thomas Parr, draper, Thomas Palmer, stud groom, and Sidney George Povey, solicitor's clerk.
He was buried in the same grave with his first wife Emma Sarah on 29 June 1920.
