He was married to Alice Maria Dowling nee Tidbury from Shaw cum Donnington who died age 74 18th of October 1926 in Southsea. She was living at 44 Marmion Road, Southsea with her son Richard
Several children including Ernest Henry Dowling born in 1879 in Enborn
His wife Alice died at 44, Marmion Road Southsea
