ALBERT WISE
The death of Mr. Albert Wise, of abridge, Howard Road, which took place on Tuesday morning, is to be deplored. He had recently acquired the property and was settling down in the hope of many years of happy occupation, but influenza attacked the household, he and his wife and two children, as well as a lady friend staying with them, being ill at the same time. The friend succumbed and Mr. Wise was also unable to recover from the malady.

Nine or ten years ago he came from Abingdon to take the post of chief clerk at the County Court Office, the duties of which he discharged with great ability. He was very helpful to all who sought the services of the Court, and especially to applicants with little knowledge of legal formalities, being always ready to give advice and assistance.
Of genial temperament, he made many friends, and was an active member of the Guildhall Club, acting secretary of the Games Committee, and was conspicuously successful in the organisation of whist drives, which became the most popular social events in the town.

Whilst residing in the Kingsbridge Road he acted as secretary to St Hilda's Mission, in which he took a practical interest.
