Jane Fisher, nee Griffin, was born in "the City" Newbury, 4 th Sept. 1874 to William and Mary Griffin. William was a gardener.
The 1881 c suggests she had 3 sisters Elizabeth b ~1867, Ellen 1871 and Edith 1878
By 1891 William is a Railway labourer and Edith has died. By 1901 William is back to being a Garden Labourer and Jane 26 is a Launderess.
In 1908 q2 she married a Cecil Harry Fisher. He was 10 years younger than Jane and in 1911 a traction Engine Driver born North Heath. They were living in Gladstone Cottages. It seems at some stage he left Jane to live with another woman called Black in the Pewsey area.
In 1939 she is living at 28 Hampton Road, Newbury doing unpaid domestic duties with a Reginald D A Fisher born 12 Oct 1914 a marine engine machinist
Associated with Jane is a story in WW2 about the demise of a cat that had eaten the meat ration and a copper clothes boiler!
Jane lived to be 95, was buried 9 july 1970 with her sister Elizabeth Griffin (d 1956) and Beatrice Piper (D 1978) possibly grave LS(K)7
