Recorder's Notes | NOTE: date of death: Mrs P's record 5th Sept., Official records give 6th Sept. Elsie was born in 1882 in Great Ilford, West Ham, Essex to Bank Clerk, Thomas & Mary. Trained as a Nurse at the Middlesex Hospital in Marylebone., registered as an SRN in 1917. In WW1: Nursing Sister, QAIMNSR, 1914-1920. Younger brother Cyril, Artists' Rifles and 2nd Lt. Kings' Royal Rifle Corps, died of wounds in the Batte of Festuberg, Bethune, France on 17 May 1915 aged 23. Elsie lived in Finchley near her parents & in accommodation for Medical Staff in Marylebone. She emigrated with 2 other Nursing Sisters to nurse in Curacao, Venezuela in 1930, giving her residence as 90, Talgarth Mansions, Baron's Court, London W. In the 1939 Census she was employed as an SRN by Lady Violetta Astor at Hever Castle, Kent. She retired to one of the homes for Middlesex Hospital Nurses, St Teresa's, Argyle Rd., Newbury where she died. She left £760 in her Will. ELSIE VIOLET CASSIDY
Elsie was born in 1882 in Great Ilford, West Ham, Essex to Bank Clerk, Thomas & Mary. She trained as a Nurse at the Middlesex Hospital in Marylebone. & was registered as an SRN in 1917. During WW1 she worked as a Nursing Sister, QAIMNSR, 1914-1920. She suffered the loss of her younger brother Cyril, Artists' Rifles and 2nd Lt. Kings' Royal Rifle Corps, who died of wounds in the Batte of Festuberg, Bethune, France on 17 May 1915 aged 23.
