Frederick George King
1889-1943
Frederick was born on the 23rd January 1889 in Chaddlleworth, Berkshire, (birth registered in Dorking Surrey) the son of George Samuel and Mary King (nee Pearce) who were married in 1888 (marriage registered in Newbury)
His father George Samuel was born in 1865 in Newbury, the son of David and Sarah King (nee Whiting) who were married in 1864 (marriage registered in Newbury)
His mother Mary Pearce/Pierce Cripps was born in 1854 in Chaddleworth, Berkshire, the illegitimate daughter of Maria Cripps. Maria married John Pearce later that year and Mary was then known as Mary Pearce.)
George and Mary also had the following three children:
William Thomas born c1890, birth registered in Dorking Surrey
Twins: Cecil David and Eveline Maud born on the 31st December 1892 in Newbury
In 1891 Frederick (2) was recorded living in Burrows Stables, Shere, Guilford, Surrey with his father George (27) a Domestic Coachman, his mother Mary (30) and his brother, William (1).
Frederick’s brother Cecil died aged 18 months in 1894, his funeral service was held at St John the Evangelist and he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 21st July.
The 1901 census records Frederick (12) living at the Queens Tap, Wharf Road, Newbury with his father George (36), a Publican, Mary (42), his brother William (11) and his sister Evelyn (8).
In 1911 Frederick (22) was recorded as a Hairdresser, he was living at 7 Speen View Terrace, Newbury with his family. His father George (45) was working as a Ginger Beer Maker (own Account), his brother William (21), was working as a Groom (Domestic) and his sister Evelyn (18) was working as a Dressmaker’s Apprentice.
Frederick married Lizzie May Bishop in 1917 (marriage registered in Newbury)
Lizzie was born in Bridgford Nottinghamshire in 1888. She was baptised on the 3rd June 1888 at St Giles, West Bridgford, the daughter of Joseph John and Elizabeth Mary Bishop (nee Phillips) who were married in 1887 (marriage registered in Nottingham).
Frederick’s mother Mary died aged 74 on the 14th June 1928, she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 19th June.
The 1939 Register records Frederick (50) as a Hairdresser/Invalid/incapacitated and Lizzie (51) living at 34 Russell Road, Newbury.
Frederick died aged 54 on the 23rd November 1943, he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 27th November.
His father George died aged 86 on the 12th July 1951, he was laid to rest int the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 16th July.
Lizzie died aged 84 in 1973 (death registered in Newbury)
