The articles below contain information about Caroline Holt.
Caroline was the last child of Edmund George Thorn and Margaret May. She was born in 1850, married George Holt in 1873.
On 1881 census Caroline was married to George Holt from Northampton who was a shoemaker. They had four children Florence K b 1875, Harry g b 1877, Ethel M b 1879 and Earnest b 1881. The elder two were born in Northampton and the younger,two in Newbury. At the time of the census they were living at Backway, Speen.
By 1891 they had moved to Russell Road, Newbury and had another daughter bora b 1890. George was described as a cordwinder and daughter Florence was a dressmaker.
They had moved again by 1901 to 4, Pound Street. George was now a bootmaker, Florence was a costumier and Ernest a compositor. Daughter Dora was now Winifred b
The 1911 census found them at 80 Gloucester Road. George still a bootmaker. Only Ernest a compositor) and bora ( dressmaker) were still at home. There was also a granddaughter Florrie aged 13.
Caroline died in 1938 aged 88yrs and was living at 4 Lower Raymond Almshouses.
