THE LATE MR. F.J. GARDNER
Many Colleagues attend Funeral Service at St. John's Church
There was a large attendance at the funeral of Mr. Frederick John Gardner, of Chandos-road, Newbury, an employee of the Wessex Electricity Company – who was electrocuted whilst working at Pangbourne sub-station last week- which took place at St. John's Church, Newbury, on Saturdayafternoon. The vicar, the Rev. E.H. Stenning officiated and the interment was at Newtown-road Cemetery.

Mr. Gardner's duties took him all over the Wessex area, with the result that he had made a very large number of friends. His popularity was shown by the fact that nearly 100 of his colleagues attended the funeral, representing the Newbury Central Office, both Wessex and Edmundsons, as well as the following district offices: Newbury, Oxford, Salisbury, Shaftesbury, Wallingford, Melksham, Yeovil, High Wycombe and Salisbury Company.

The coffin was borne by six of his colleagues, Messrs. W. Stephens, A.W. Rawlings, J.C. Napier, T.E. Pothecary, P.S. Kidd and L. Ryan.

The family mourners were: Mrs. Gardner (widow), Mr. and Mrs. Gardner (father and mother), Mr. Frank Gardner, Mr. Don Gardner, (brothers), Mr. Frank Mead, Mr. Don Mead (brothers-in-law), Mr. and Mrs. J. Mead (brother-in-law and sister-in-law), Mrs. Ethel Butcher (sister-in-law), Mr. Fred Price.

There follows a long list of others present. Another of those who sent wreaths including a list of representatives of the Wessex Electricity Company who were represented.
