Recorder's Notes Henry was the son of a farmer in Winterbourne (Penclose farm, 350 acres empl 12 men & 4 boys). He trained as an Auctioneer in Andover but later became a farmer, retiring young & living in Eastfileds prior to his death. His wife Jane (nee Ward) died shortly after him leaving 3 boys & a girl. The eldest boy was sent to live with his maternal uncle in Yattendon & became a baker, the two younger boys were sent to the London Asylum for Orphans in Watford (1891 census). One went on to work as a draper for Marshall & Snelgrove in Oxford St.The girl was sent to a Boarding School for Ladies in Burnham, Somerset. Source: ancestry
