William Galloway

William Galloway

c1815-1861

 

William Crocker Galloway was born in Berkshire he was baptised on the 2nd July 1815 in Kintbury and was the son of Charlotte Galloway.

William was a Brick Maker, he married Jane Pocock (born c1810 in East Woodhay Hampshire) in 1834 in East Woodhay and they had the following children:

Henry c1838-1838 birth registered in Kingsclere

Selvia 1839 birth registered in Kingsclere

Thomas 1841 birth registered in Newbury

Charles c1844 birth registered in Newbury

Twins: Caroline Jane and Eliza Ann 1852 births registered in Newbury

(The 1841 census records a son James aged 10 so possibly born James Pocock)

 

The family were recorded living in Newtown Common Newbury in 1841 and Enborne Wash Newbury in 1851.

Jane died aged 47 in 1857 (surname recorded as Galaway on death registration and burial records) she was laid to rest on the 24th May at St Michael and All Angels Enborne

William died in 1861 (age at death recorded on the GRO website as 41, NBI records date at death as 48) he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 1st February
