William Thomas Pearce 1860-1860

William Thomas Pearce

1860-1860

William was born in Newbury the son of Thomas and Mary Pearce (nee Rampton) who married in Hampshire in 1855 (marriage registered in KIngsclere). Thomas was born c1831 and Mary was born c1833 in Crux Easton Hampshire.

Thomas and Mary also had the following children:

Charles 1856 birth registered in Kingsclere

Eliza 1857 birth registered in Kingsclere

Alice 1858 birth registered in Newbury

Thomas died aged 28 in 1859 in Newbury (death registered in the December quarter). Mary gave birth to their son William Thomas the following year (birth registered in the June quarter 1860)

William Thomas died in the December of 1860 he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 3rd January 1861. (NBI 3rd Edition records William as William Henry Pearce infant buried 3rd January 1861 at Newbury St Nicolas)

Mary was working as a Leather Glove Maker in 1861 she was living in West Mills Newbury with her children, Charles (5), Eliza (3) and Alice (2)

Mary remarried in Newbury in 1869 and moved back to Crux Easton, her 2nd husband was Charles Cummins (born c1827 in Crux Easton) Charles was a widower with three children, Francis born c1856, Ann born c1860 and Sarah born c1865 (1st wife Harriet Cummins who died in 1867).

Charles and Mary had the following two children, Frederick William born in 1870 and Mary Jane born c1873.

The 1871 census records the Cummins family living in Crux Easton (none of the Pearce children were recorded in the household).

Mary and Charles continued to live in Crux Easton until at least 1891. Charles died aged 66 in 1896 his death was registered in Kingsclere.

The 1901 census records Mary visiting a George and Mary Ann Haylock and their family in Cuckfield Sussex.

 In 1911 Mary was recorded living in Sussex (Upper Common Staplefield) with her married daughter Eliza Jupp and her family. She died aged 84 in 1915 (death registered in Cuckfield)
