Elizabeth Ann May

According to census records Elizabeth Ann was born in London/Middlesex.
The 1881-1921 census records record Elizabeth living in Donnington Square, Newbury, Berkshire. (1881 and 1891 at number 28 and 1901 and 1911 at number 7)
In 1881 Elizabeth (25) was recorded working as a Domestic Servant for James Henry and Sarah Lucas. Sarah Lucas died later that year.
The 1891 census records Elizabeth (35) as a Housekeeper, she was still working for James Henry Lucas (at number 28). James Henry Lucas died in 1899.
The 1901 census records Elizabeth (45) as a Domestic Nurse working for a widow, Elizabeth Barton (72) who was living on her own means (at number 7). Also recorded in the household were Elizabeth Barton’s daughters, Charlotte W Barton (39) Bertha W Barton (37), a visitor, Elizabeth A Payne (64) and Ellen Church (59) a Domestic Housemaid.
In 1921 Elizabeth (65) was recorded living with Bertha Woods Barton
Elizabeth died aged 82 on the 27th March 1838, at the Newbury Infirmary, she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 31st March
(Also buried later with Elizabeth Ann were John O’Leary (buried November 1943) and Rhoda O’Leary (buried April 1946)).
Probate: MAY Elizabeth Ann of 42 York-road Newbury Berkshire spinster died 27th March 1938 at the Infirmary Newbury Probate Oxford 4th April to Charles Henry Payne naval pensioner. Effects: £997 11s 6d
