Frances Fanny Ayres
c1819-1892
Fanny, her parents, siblings and early life:
Fanny (aka Frances) was baptised on the 12th May 1819, at St Nicolas Church, Newbury, Berkshire, the daughter of James and Fanny Foster (nee Chubb) who were married on the 1st February 1802, at St Nicolas, Newbury.
Fanny’s father James was born c1777. He died in 1848, in Newbury.
Her mother Fanny was born c1783. She died in 1844, in Newbury.
James and Frances/Fanny also had the following children:
Mary, born c1802
James, born c1807
Hannah, baptised 25th May 1809 (born 7th May, surname recorded as Forster)
Elizabeth, baptised 23rd May 1811 (born 12th May)
Joseph, baptised 30th June 1813
Ann, baptised 8th May 1815
Sarah, baptised 3rd September 1821
The 1815 census of Newbury records James Foster (38) as a Sawyer, living at Central Houses, in the City area of Newbury, Berkshire, with Frances (33) and their children, Mary (13), James (8), Hannah (6), Elizabeth (4), Joseph (2) and Ann, an infant.

(John was baptised in 1812, in Uffington, Berkshire, the son of William and Anne Ayres (nee Harrord) who were married in 1799, in Uffington).
John and Fanny had the following two sons baptised at St Nicolas, Newbury:
Thomas, 20th October 1839
James, 26th December 1841
The 1841 census records John Ayers (25) an Agricultural Labourer, living in Old Newtown Road, Newbury, with Fanny (20) and their son Thomas (2).
In 1851 John was mistakenly recorded as Thomas Ayres (38), an Agricultural Labourer, living in Bartholomew Street Newbury, with Fanny (34), Thomas (11) and James (9).
By 1861 both Thomas and James had left home. John Ayres (45) and Frances F. (42) were recorded living in The City, Newbury. John was still working as an Agricultural Labourer.
The 1871 census records John Ayres (59), (mistakenly recorded as James) as a Cow Keeper, he was still living in The City, with Fanny (51). Their grandson Thomas Ayres (7) was recorded living with them.
In 1881 John Ayres (68), a Dairyman and Frances (60) were recorded living in The City, Derby Road, Newbury.
The 1891 census records John Ayres (75), a Dairyman, Fanny (70) and their granddaughter Phoebe Ayres (14), living in Derby Road, Newbury.
Frances Fanny Ayres died on the 17th January 1892. She was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery (as Frances Fanny) on the 21st January.
John Ayres died on the 3rd March 1895. He was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery with his wife Fanny on the 7th March.
