THE LATE SERGEANT CAVE
The funeral of the late Mr. Cave, for many years drill-sergeant to the Newbury Volunteers, took place on Saturday in Newbury Cemetery. The service was taken by the Rev. Marsh Kirkby, and the mourners included relatives and old friends.
The late sergeant will be remembered with affection and esteem by many of those who were members of the Newbury Volunteer Company during the most flourishing period of its history. Sergeant Cave brought the Company to a high standard of efficiency, from which it has never departed. Col.-Sergt. Lucas was present to represent the old comrades of the deceased at the funeral.

Lived May Villas, York Road, Greenham.

William Cave

William Cave was born in Cambridge in 1823 and in 1851 was lodging at 202 Northbrook Street, a sergeant in 15th regiment. 

He m. Sarah Fifield in 1852.

In 1871 they lived at 5 market place, Newbury with 9 children

In 1891 he was innkeeper of the Falmouth Inn woolhampton
