Frederick James Booker

1897-1897

Frederick James was born in Newbury, Berkshire, the son of Tom and Elizabeth Hannah Booker (nee Russ) who were married in Lambourn Berkshire in 1894. Frederick died soon after he was born (birth and death both recorded in the September quarter) and was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 10th September.

Frederick’s family:

His father Tom was born on the 6th May 872, in Bradfield, Berkshire, the son of Daniel and Miriam Booker (nee Sherman) who were married in 1858 (marriage registered in the December quarter, in Bradfield)

His mother Elizabeth Hannah was born in 1873 in Lambourn, Berkshire, the daughter of Ambrose and Mary Russ (nee Pearce) who were married on the 4th December 1847 in Aldbourne, Wiltshire.

Tom and Elizabeth also had the following sons:

Ambrose Charles Edwin, born 20th June 1894, in Lambourn

George Robert, born 24th January 1901, in Newbury

Sidney Tom, born 2nd July 1912, in Newbury

The 1901 census records Tom (28) as a Domestic Groom, living in St John’s View, Newbury, Berkshire, with Elizabeth (27) and their sons, Ambrose (6) and George (2 months).

In 1911 Tom (38), a Brewer’s Drayman, Elizabeth (37), Ambrose (16), an Apprentice (Engineer’s Pattern Makers) and George (10), were living in Railway Road, Newbury.

Tom, Elizabeth, George and Sidney were again recorded living in Railway Road Newbury in 1921.

Elizabeth died in 1936, in Newbury

The 1939 Register records Tom as a General Labourer, living at 9 Railway Road, Newbury.

Tom died in 1955 in Newbury.
