Ellen Florence was born on the 19th May 1896, she was baptised on the 2nd August 1896, at St Nicolas Church Newbury, the daughter of Charles and Edith Jane Perris, (nee Davis/Davies) who were married in 1894 (marriage registered in Newbury)

Ellen Florence died aged 10 months on the 12th April 1897, she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 15th April.

Ellen Florence’s family:

Her father: Charlie (aka Charles) was born on the 1st April 1872, in Stockcross, Berkshire, the son of George and Ann Perris (nee Carter) who were married in 1859 (marriage registered in Newbury)

Her mother: Edith Jane was born on the 13th July 1870, she was baptised on the 4th September 1870, at St Nicolas Church, Newbury, the daughter of Joseph and Sarah Davies (nee May) who were married in 1860 (marriage registered in Newbury)

Ellen’s Siblings: (baptised at St Nicolas, Newbury)

Charles George born 24th January 1895, baptised 16th July 1896, (dad a Bricklayer, abode, West Mills)

William Thomas, baptised 3rd October 1897 (dad a Labourer, abode, West Mills)

Nellie, born 1899, baptised 30th April 1899 (dad a Carter, abode, Newbury)

Florence Annie, born 26th April 1901, baptised 22nd February 1903 (dad a Builder’s Carter, abode, West Mills)

Albert Edwin, born 20th July 1903, baptised 15th December 1903 (dad a Carter, abode, River Sde, West Mills)

Henry born 1905 (no baptism found)

In 1901 Charles (29), a Builder’s Carter, Edith Jane (30), Charles (6), William (3) and Nellie (2), were recorded living in Riverside Cottages, Kennet Road, Newbury.

The 1911 census records Charles (39) as a School House Porter (Secondary School), living at 3 Arthur Road, Newbury, with Edith (40) and their children, Charles George (16), a Greengrocer’s Assistant, William Thomas (13), Nellie (11), Florence Annie (9), Albert Edwin (7) and Henry (5).

In 1921 Charles (39), a Borough Carter, Edith (50), Charles (26), a Builder’s Labourer, William (23), a General Labourer, Nellie (22), a Domestic Servant, Florence (20), a Domestic Servant, Albert (17) a Garden Labourer and Henry (16), a Boot Repairer, were recorded living at Farleigh Cottage, Buckingham Road, Newbury.

In 1939 Charles, Edith Jane and their sons Charles George and Willliam Thomas, Gardeners, were recorded living at 39 Buckingham Road, Newbury.

Edith Jane died aged 75, in 1946, in Newbury.

Charles died aged 79, in 1951, in Newbury.
