PATRICK HEANEY

Patrick was landlord of the Nag’s Head from July 1936 until his death the following year. His widow, Emily, took over the licence and ran the pub for a couple of years before Norris Rowland Heaney took over the licence in Dec 1938 (a son presumably).  He left the pub in 1950.

In the 1939 Register Norris was licensee and Vera M Heaney was also there – relationships are not given but it looks like she was Norris’ daughter - possibly a step-daughter as his wife (Emily M) has her surname (Heaney) crossed out and replaced by Fallis. Perhaps there had been a failure to wed?

Norris died in the Newbury area in 1986 aged 76.
