Mary Ann Norris

Mary Ann Norris

1820-1896

Mary Ann Pierce was born on the 17th May 1820 in Ecchinswell Hampshire she was baptised on the 16th July 1820 and was the daughter of David and Ann Pierce (nee Freemantle) who married on the 20th June 1818 in Hampshire.

Mary’s siblings were:

Charles bapt 13/10/1822 

 Maria bapt 25/7/1824  

Susannah bapt 24/12/1826

Jane bapt 1/2/1829  

Hannah born c1837

Mary (surname spelt Pearce) married Charles Norris in Newbury in 1848 and they had the following children:

William 1849

Charles c1851

Harry 1852  

 Mary Jane 1854  

 Frank c1857   

Elizabeth c1860

The family lived in West Mills (1851 and 1861), Wither’s Yard Northbrook Street (1871) and Magdala Terrace (1881). Charles worked as a Fellmonger and Glover in 1851, a Leather Dresser in 1861, a Fellmonger & Leather Dresser’s Foreman in 1871 and a Fellmonger’s Foreman in 1881.

Charles died aged 63 on the 6th May 1888 and was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 8th May.

In 1891 Mary Ann was supported by and living with her son William and his family in Speen. Mary Ann died aged 75 on the 27th February 1896 and was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 3rd March.
