THOMAS NEWTON

DDFELLOWS’ FUNERAL

The late Mr. Thomas Newton, whose death took place last week, having been an Oddfellow for many years, his funeral on Friday was attended by members of the "Jack" Lodge. The burial service at the Cemetery was read by the Rev. F. A Hill. The funeral arrangements were carried out by Mr. Hanington.

The deceased, was a son of the late Mr. Thomas Newton, confectioner, of Northbrook-street, whom he succeeded in the management of that business. But for some years latterly be has been the victim of a distressing complaint, which incapacitated him for work of any kind. He was one of the early members of the Newbury Company of Volunteers and inherited his father's love for cricket and angling.
