Job Taylor

1845-1895

Job was born in Newbury in 1845 the son of Stephen & Phoebe Taylor (nee Trueman) who were married on the 17th November 1823 at St Nicolas Church Newbury (both were single). Stephen was a Tinman & Brazier.

Job’s siblings were: John c1825, Elizabeth c1826, James c1829, Stephen c1832, Jane c1834, Eliza c1836, Simon 1838, Mary Ann c1840, Andrew c1842, Esther c1844 and Patience c1848                                                                                                                                                                           

                                  

 In 1841 the family were living in Northbrook Street Newbury but by 1851 they had moved to Northcroft Lane.

Job’s father died aged 63 in 1862 he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 29th March.

His mother died aged 68 in 1868 she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 30th May.

In 1871 Job, a Butcher, his brother Andrew, an Umbrella Maker and his sister Patience, a Domestic Servant were living in the Rose & Thistle Yard, Newbury.

In 1881 Job was living at the Cricketers Arms Bartholomew Street and was working as an Ostler/Domestic Servant. 

The 1891 census records him as a General Labourer living at the Streamer 16 Bartholomew Street, Newbury.

Job never married he died on the 11th June 1895 in the Union Workhouse Newbury and was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 14th June.
