Recorder's Notes Frederick was born to Frederick Baron Twitchin & Charlotte Griffin. His father was a blacksmith who grew up in Shaw Lane and West Mills. He married in Plumstead where he continued working as a blacksmith. He died 2 years after his son's death & is buried in Greenwich. Frederick George's mother is from the Welford, Berks. . Frederick George Twitchin

1891-1894

Frederick George’s father Frederick Baron was a Blacksmith. He was baptised on the 8th March 1863, at St Nicolas, Newbury, the son of Benjamin and Hannah Twitchin (nee Lewis) who were married on the 26th February 1860, at St Nicolas, Newbury.

His mother Charlotte was born in 1864 in Welford, Berkshire, the daughter of Daniel and Sarah Griffin (nee Drewett) who were married in 1857 (marriage registered in Newbury).

Frederick George’s parents were married on the 5th August 1889, in Plumstead, Kent.

The 1891 census records Frederick (28) and Charlotte (26), living at 132, Cage Lane, Plumstead.

They had two sons.  Frederick George Twitching, born on the 15th July 1891 and Walter Ernest Twitchin, born on the 29th August 1892, both born in Plumstead.

Frederick George’s father died aged 30 in 1893, he was buried/cremated on the 9th September, in Greenwich, London.

Frederick George Twitchin died aged 3, the following year on the 31st October, in Newbury. He was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 3rd November 1894.

The 1901 census records his mother Charlotte (36), living with her brother Eli Griffin (31), a Pork Butcher and his family, at 20 Church Street, Basingstoke, Hampshire. Walter (8) (recorded as Ernest) was living with his widowed grandmother Sarah Griffin (63), at 3 Stone Cottages, Newbury, Berkshire.

Charlotte remarried in 1904, in Basingstoke, Hampshire. Her 2nd husband was John Henry Foster. They had a son, Reginald Henry, born c1906, in Basingstoke.

In 1911 Charlotte Foster (44), John Henry Foster (34), a Timber Merchant’s Wood Sawyer, Ernest Twitchin (18), a Grocer’s Assistant and Reginald Henry Foster (5), were recorded living in “Weston” May Street, Basingstoke, Hampshire.

John Henry, Charlotte and Reginald were still living in “Weston” May Street in 1921. By 1939 John Henry and Charlotte were living at 244 Worting Road, Basingstoke. John Henry was working as a Timber Inspector.

Charlotte died aged 89, in 1954, in Basingstoke.
